In 2005 we took a pilgrimage to the Sequoia National Forest. General Sherman is the biggest, living, single trunk tree in the world, by volume. It is over 2000 years old. Height 275’, diameter 25’, volume 52,513 cubic’. Its bark is soft, but endures fire well.
