Eastern Black Walnut, Julans nigra

I have lived with big Black Walnuts in both NC and VA. The old NC tree survived rough treatment, from reworking our driveway. This emboldened me to unsuccessfully try to stop a neighborhood tree removal. My VA Walnut is in its prime, though it lost a graceful branch since this painting, in a storm. The old barn has since fallen down.
